Naegi Castle site
Naegi Castle once stood in Naegi, Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, on Mt. Takamori (elevation 432 meters) on the right bank of the Kiso River, which flows through the city from east to west. Its most distinctive features are the walls made of huge stones. This mountain castle was built to make the most of the natural terrain with Kakedukuri architecture, since it was difficult to secure a traditional building site atop the rocky peak.
